Environmental Evaluation of CO₂-Lean Steelmaking Process

GHG Reduction Assessment for Carbon
Neutral Technologies in the Iron and Steel Industry
Research Objectives

The objective of this research is to develop a methodology for evaluating greenhouse gas reduction associated with carbon-neutral technologies in the iron and steel industry, and to identify optimized carbon-neutral transition pathways based on technology performance and cost data.

Core Research Content

Establishment of Technology DB : analyzes the material and energy consumption, cost structures, and performance characteristics of existing processes and emerging low-carbon technologies in the iron and steelmaking industry.

Establishment of LCI DB : Develop the life cycle assessment methodology, LCI database construction and calculation of carbon emission factors for the iron and steelmaking industry.

Assessment Model for GHG Reduction Potential : Develop the mathematical model for GHG reduction potential assessment based on technology properties and databases. Deriving feasible decarbonization and cost-optimized pathway for the iron and steelmaking industry.
